So you would like to have your retriever !

Well, very good idea. It is much fun to hunt with your own retriever dog and the dog is always ready and anxious to go hunting with you.

What dog should I get ? Well my personal choice is a Labrador.
I like those dogs because they are friendly with you and your family and friends, but don’t be mistaken they will protect the whole family against intruders, they can get mean at times. They are easy to train. They are sturdy. They generally have good health. They won’t shy from cold water. If you want to train one I suggest that you get him when he is young, as soon as he can leave the litter. I had 2 dogs that I got at that age and they where both very good retriever, I used to take them grouse and pheasant. hunting also and they did a great job at flushing and retrieving. I had a couple more that I got at about 9 month and I could never train them properly ! So It is much easier if you get the dog young.
